Fork

Every branch point offers an easy direction and a hard one. This tree takes the hard one, every time, and keeps going until it runs out of room.

depth 0  ·  abandoned branches 0

The grey branches are the sensible ones. Each ends in a small circle, because that's where that version stops. The coral line is the one that kept going.

It's the same diagram as the one next to each question on the front page, run without a script. I wanted to know whether the shape held up when nobody was choosing the outcome to make a point — whether a path that always takes the harder branch actually looks like anything, or just looks like noise.

It looks like something. It never looks the same twice, and it never looks like a plan.

Reload it a few times. Some runs die at depth four. The tree isn't rewarded for persistence and nothing guarantees the hard branch leads anywhere. That felt like the honest version.
